Kathy Barton demonstrates watercolor techniques at Flowing Colors Studio first Friday in October.  Open Studio Reception is Friday October 5, 2018, 5-8 PM.  Light refreshments will be served.  Demonstration in the buildings atrium.

Flowing Colors Studio features the work of artist Joanne Shank, Don Geyra, Betty Wagoner, Patricia C. Coleman, Alyssa Many and visiting artist Kathy Barton.  The studio features locally made original fine art – from traditional to abstract, prints, cards, hand dyed and hand painted - one of a kind silk and cotton scarves, locally blended certified organic Quilter’s Comfort herbal products (#279 in WFIU Member booklet);  home and tea accessories, handpainted tiles and folded tessellations.  Flowing Colors is located at 112 North Walnut Street, #600, Bloomington, IN.

Studio Hours – Thursdays and Fridays 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Saturday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Open Studio every first Friday.

 Flowing Colors is an eclectic mix of arts and artisans.

It is a busy time for the studio artist!  No more lazy days of summer, it is holiday event time and  lots of travel for visits with family and friends, and we hope, visits with you!   We artist create because that is what we do.  We do it because we absolutely love what we are doing and delight in opportunities to share with others.  And, we appreciate every purchase because, for some of us, this is how we earn our daily bread.

Studio member  KATHY BARTON PAINTINGS MOVING HOME IN JANUARY 2018

Kathy Barton will be moving her art works to her home studio at the end of December 2017.  In the meantime,   many outdoor Indiana and coastal scenes have been captured –barns, fields, flower beds, flower farms, playgrounds and beaches.  Kathy’s paintings may be viewed by appointment only starting in January.  Reach Kathy at 812-679-6353.

July 2017 Open Studio and Demonstration by Don Geyra

 The Flowiing Color Studio, using the words of a recent visitor, "is a jewell in the Bloomington Community!"  We send thanks to all of our visitors! 

 Join Us Friday, July 7, 2017 for the Flowing Colors Open Studio this month Don Geyra is featured and will be demonstrating.

Red Buds at T.C. Steele  2017

 He will be demonstrating plein air with oils in the entry way of the Caveat Emptor Building.   This oil painting was done plein-air on April 12, 2017 with the Upland plein-air painters. It represents my favorite style of painting. Working directly from life with the references all around me.  After so many years I find I rely very little on preliminary sketches.
I search for my subject and lay it in tonally with a fast drying glaze. As that sets up I begin applying finish colors.  Occasionally I will spend a little time finishing in my studio but essentially as in this case the painting is completed in situ.
I most enjoy being in the moment and capturing my subject as a recognizable image in real time.  Don Geyra

New works of studio members will be on display.  Flowing Colors and offers paintings, jewelry, fabric art accessories and scarves, prints, bound books,  home furnishings, locally made Quilter’s Comfort herbal  products and more. 

The studio is located on the second floor, above Caveat Emptor Book Sellers at 112 North Walnut Street, Suite 600, the is open until 8pm on first Friday’s.  Regular hours are Thursday and Friday 2pm – 6pm; Saturdays are 1pm – 5pm.  Flowing Color Studio artist are Don Geyra, Kathy Barton, Patricia C. Coleman, Joanne Shank and associates.  Stop in to learn about available classes.   Light refreshments served will include locally made artisan mustard, homemade whole grain pretzels, humus and herbal tea.
