Bloomington is a culture wealthy community!  Every single day, there is some wonderful, creative event occuring.  Artist of many creative intentions abound in this town.  So, of course you have many options for original art and artisan creations in Bloomington, Indiana.   So why shop HART Rock, Quilter’s Comfort, the Flowing Colors Studio and all of the other area arts galleries and studios?  First, because locally created art is very cool and is a major attraction to visitors.  For every $100 that is spent at an independently owned business, $68 will stay in the community even when you make the purchase through the web. Wlhen that same amount is spent at a national chain, only $43 stays in the community. When you buy from an online mega seller the amount drops to $0!

We are local folks, doing our artistic living right here in this community or come .  We’ve raised children in this community.  Our arts and herbal products have been enjoyed by you and delighting visitors and students for many years.  We share our creative knowledge through classes, workshops and demonstrations for children and adults. We are your neighbors, which mean we directly put money back into the immediate surroundings and you contribute to artist having a living income.  

We independent artist and artisans are a vital part of the fabric of this town.  We help make the neighborhood more interesting and unique.   When people visit Bloomington, they are looking for places like Flowing Colors and a tea business where a mom and daughter can come in, meet the blender, smell the teas, talk about ingredients and take away for later enjoyment.  When buying from local businesses, taking workshops, attending events, or making purchases through on line stores, you are supporting a strong and vibrant local community.  Each dollar spent in a local business also reduces environmental waste which has increased due to packaging and shipping.  Shopping locally lowers our collective carbon footprint.  And keeps our community interesting and worthy of exploration by visitors.
