Open Studio and Flexagon Book Demonstration by Patricia C. Coleman





If you are out and about on first Friday, August 4, 2017, come up to the Flowing Colors Studio  to spend time with the art and enjoy Patricia C. Coleman  as she demonstrates folding the Tetraflexagon as a book structure and share examples that explore some of its many decorative possibilities.   Flexagons are flat models, usually constructed by folding strips of paper that can be flexed or folded in certain ways to reveal faces besides the two that were originally on the back and front. Interested persons can sign up for an August Tea with Arts Workshop in the Flowing Colors Studio.  These mathematical artist book structures can be the jumping off place for creative investigation and artistic expression.

 New works of studio members will be on display.  Flowing Colors artist offer paintings, fabric art, home furnishings, accessories, jewelry, and new, one of a kind, silk and cotton hand dyed and hand painted scarves, prints, bound books,  tessellations, Quilter’s Comfort herbal  products and more. 
The studio is located on the second floor, above Caveat Emptor Book Sellers at 112 North Walnut Street, Suite 600; Flowing Colors is open until 8pm on first Friday’s.  Regular hours are Thursday and Friday 2pm – 6pm; Saturdays are 1pm – 5pm and by appointment.  Flowing Color Studio artist are Kathy Barton, Patricia C. Coleman, Don Geyra, Joanne Shank and associates.  Light refreshments served will include a nod to the Wellness Arts Gallery Herbal Table offering whole grain savory mini scones, grandma’s mustard, sunshine humus and Rose Mint herbal tea.  Stop in for art and sign up for upcoming small group classes.

Kathy has completed a series of three paintings reflecting a week of wind surfers playing on the Atlantic coast near Pompano Beach ,Florida.  They are now available in the studio.

Why Shopping the Flowing Colors Studio, Quilter’s Comfort, Taking Classes with Local Arts and Artisan Studios is Good for Bloomington?

Bloomington is a culture wealthy community!  Every single day, there is some wonderful, creative event occuring.  Artist of many creative intentions abound in this town.  So, of course you have many options for original art and artisan creations in Bloomington, Indiana.   So why shop HART Rock, Quilter’s Comfort, the Flowing Colors Studio and all of the other area arts galleries and studios?  First, because locally created art is very cool and is a major attraction to visitors.  For every $100 that is spent at an independently owned business, $68 will stay in the community even when you make the purchase through the web. Wlhen that same amount is spent at a national chain, only $43 stays in the community. When you buy from an online mega seller the amount drops to $0!
